Common LG Problems
Faults: linear compressor not cooling, an ER FF fan error, or a warm fridge with a cold freezer. Do: note any flashing display code and vacuum the rear coils. Don't: keep cycling the power on a dead compressor — you'll only stress the start relay further.
Faults: OE drain error, UE unbalanced loads, or an IE that won't fill. Do: clean the drain-pump filter and check the inlet hose screens for grit. Don't: wedge in a big tangled load to beat a UE error — it hammers the direct-drive bearing.
Faults: a D80/D90/D95 vent-blockage warning, no heat, or very long cycles. Do: clean the lint filter and clear the full duct run to the wall. Don't: dismiss a repeated D-code — a clogged vent overheats the element and is a fire risk.
Faults: an LE motor error, water left standing, or an OE that won't drain. Do: clean the filter and spray arms, and make sure the drain hose isn't kinked. Don't: keep restarting on a repeating LE — the direct-drive motor can overheat and fail outright.
Faults: an F9 burner-control fault, an induction zone that won't detect a pan, or unresponsive touch controls. Do: wipe the glass dry and use flat, magnetic-base cookware on induction. Don't: keep tapping a frozen touch panel — a failed control board won't reset itself and can short.
Faults: an F1 sensor code, won't reach temperature, or a door locked after self-clean. Do: note the F-code and cut power for a minute to release the lock. Don't: run a self-clean cycle to "fix" heat issues — the extreme temperature kills the very sensor that's failing.
