Common Kenmore Problems

What Goes Wrong with Kenmore Appliances

Kenmore Fridge Issues

Faults: fridge warm while the freezer stays cold, a fan rattling behind the back panel, or ice melting in the door bin. Do: check the evaporator fan runs and clear any frost off the vents. Don't: block the rear air vents with groceries — trapped airflow ices the coil and warms the whole cabinet.

Kenmore Washer Faults

Faults: an F21 long-drain error, no spin, or it stalls full of water. Do: clean the drain-pump filter and check the hose isn't kinked behind the machine. Don't: keep restarting on a full tub — a clogged pump runs hot and can burn out the motor.

Kenmore Dryer Problems

Faults: spins but no heat, takes several cycles to dry, or a squeal from a worn drum belt. Do: clean the lint trap every load and clear the vent duct to the wall. Don't: run it again if you smell burning — a clogged vent overheats the element and is a fire risk.

Kenmore Dishwasher Troubles

Faults: won't drain, a soap door that stays shut, or dishes coming out gritty. Do: clean the filter and spray-arm holes, and confirm the drain hose has a proper high loop. Don't: pry a stuck detergent door open — you'll snap the spring and the cycle will never dispense soap.

Kenmore Stove Breakdowns

Faults: a coil element that won't heat, a burner stuck on high, or a gas igniter that clicks without lighting. Do: reseat the plug-in element in its receptacle and keep the igniter ports clean and dry. Don't: keep using a burner welded on full power — a stuck switch is a burn hazard; cut the breaker first.

Kenmore Oven Malfunctions

Faults: an F10 runaway-temp code, won't hold temperature, or a weak glow-bar that won't ignite the gas. Do: note the F-code and cut power briefly before testing again. Don't: run a self-clean cycle to "fix" a heating fault — the temperature spike often burns out the igniter or board.
